From Code
This is a home for education in computational peculiarities. I'll be posting my tutorials, curriculum notes, exercises, and essays on topics in the intersection of art and computation.
In other words, this is a home for all things one can make from code.
The first courses and materials I'll be posting are:
- Introductory TidalCycles
- Interactive storytelling in Twine
- Art & simulation in P5
- Games and art in TIC-80
- Generative art in Scratch
- Building a portfolio site in neocities
- Audiovisual performances in Estuary
These are in various states of done-ness, and polishing, and have been posted in part or full elsewhere. Here will be their final home.
I have a bunch of more advanced topics, smaller modules, and sketches, that have notes, research, and/or example code currently but no narrative writing yet. These include:
- Haskell for TidalCyclists
- Lambda calculi for fun and, well, just fun
- Generating SVGs from code
- Compositionality and category theory for the arts
- Patterns across the arts
- A short course in Hydra
- Bytebeat experiments
- An introduction to FreeCAD
- Generative art and poetry
- An introduction to the theory of computation [based on my old lecture notes]
- Common Lisp for artists
- Generative pixel art
- Build yourself a ditherer
- Glitching photos and video
- Practical 3d prints
- A tour of opensource AR tools
- An introduction to phenomenology for artists and musicians
- ...
